Description

Aronia Herb-honey 370g

Why is it worth using aronia herb-honey?

Here are the most important reasons why it is worth using aronia herb-honey:

1. Wealth of antioxidants:

  • Aronia is one of the richest sources of anthocyanins and flavonoids, which have strong antioxidant properties.

  • They help neutralise free radicals in the body, which can reduce the risk of many diseases, including cardiovascular ones and certain cancers.

  • Antioxidants also support skin health, helping to fight the ageing process.

2. Support for the circulatory system:

  • The ingredients contained in aronia, such as polyphenols and rutin, help in regulating blood pressure.

  • They can contribute to lowering the level of "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and raising the level of "good" (HDL).

  • Aronia herb-honey can improve the elasticity of blood vessels and generally support heart health.

3. Strengthening immunity:

  • Aronia is rich in vitamins, in particular vitamin C, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the immune system.

  • Herb-honey can help in the fight against colds, flu, and inflammation.

4. Cleansing action and support for treatment:

  • It supports the removal of heavy metals and drug residues from the body.

  • It can alleviate the effects of radiotherapy.

  • In folk medicine, it is recommended for pancreatic and liver ailments.

5. Other health benefits:

  • It supports eye health thanks to anthocyanins, which can improve circulation in the blood vessels of the eye.

  • It can be helpful in regulating blood sugar levels.

  • It has a strengthening effect and adds energy, which is particularly valuable during periods of weakness.

  • It has calming and relaxing properties.

Aronia Herb-honey - how to use?

Aronia herb-honey can be used as a natural sweetener for teas, drinks, cocktails, desserts, as well as an addition to cottage cheese or bread. It is important not to heat it to high temperatures, as it may lose some of its valuable properties.

Herb-honeys - what are they?

Herb-honeys are not honeys. Herb-honeys are the result of successful cooperation between bees and the beekeeper. They will not behave like our traditional honeys. The source of herb-honey is not (as in the case of traditional honey) flower nectar, but a syrup made from specific herbs. Unfortunately, not all herbs bloom (produce nectar)- thus bees are not able to produce nectar honey from them. Man, however, came to nature's aid by serving the bees a nutritious and healthy herbal feed during the non-nectar flow period. The herbal syrup produced by the beekeeper is only processed by the bees, meaning the final product is created with the participation of these insects, but is not prepared by them from start to finish. The bees enrich the herbal infusion with their enzymes and additional nectar. Herb-honey is usually created based on plants that are not honey-yielding and could not naturally serve bees for honey production. For this reason, among others, the name "herbal honey" is not used here, as it could suggest that it was created in exactly the same way as commonly known honeys.

This is exactly how herb-honeys-  combining the advantages of classic honey with the unique properties of individual medicinal herbs are created.

Herb-honeys - reinforcement not only for bees, but also for people

Herb-honeys can be classified as health food products. They are not a medicine, but their consumption strengthens the body's natural defense mechanisms and supports the treatment of many diseases. There are many scientific sources and studies confirming the beneficial effect of herb-honeys on our health. Herb-honeys as a result of successful cooperation between people and bees provide benefits to both parties. Herb-honeys are reinforcement not only for bees during the non-nectar flow period, but also for us during periods of immunity drops and body weakness.

How are herb-honeys made?

Herb-honeys are created during non-nectar flow periods in the apiary. Sometimes, some apiaries (especially stationary ones) are exposed to shortages of forage. This is influenced by geographical and weather conditions, as well as the variability of crops used by local farmers. Although there are many bee forage sources in the Lublin region thanks to its agricultural character, it is not always possible to produce the most desirable types of honey, such as honeydew or heather. That is precisely why beekeepers produce herb-honeys, to be able to produce goods from the apiary with proven health effects for our bodies. The most common ones with proven health effects are nettle syrup, pine syrup, or elderberry flower syrup.

Herb-honeys are made from herbal syrup- such syrup is produced from herbs that do not produce nectar but contain valuable health ingredients by preparing a decoction of them together with sugar in a 1:3 ratio to obtain a feed which is then given to the bees. The bees take such syrup from the feeder, add their enzymes, and place it in the combs, treating it similarly to nectar or honeydew. When excess water has evaporated from the solution, the bees cap it and then the herb-honey is ready to be harvested.

Are herb-honeys actually honeys?

Despite the similar name and the participation of bees in the process of creating herb-honeys, they cannot be called honeys because they are not made from nectar or honeydew. Honey is a legally protected name and is reserved only for products that are created 100% by bees without human intervention.

It must be mentioned, however, that many sources confirm a high content of phenolic compounds in them, which show anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, and which could not be naturally obtained by bees from these plants due to their lack of nectar production.
