What is ear candling?
Ear candling, also known as ear conching, is a popular alternative medicine treatment aimed at removing impurities from the ear, as well as treating certain ailments. Ear candling was already known in ancient Egypt, China, India, Tibet, as well as in the Aztec and Mayan cultures. Currently, this method of ear cleansing is used by American Indians - Hopi and Cherokee - and Indians from Mexico.
How to correctly perform and use ear candling?
Below we present in a few steps the correct way how to correctly perform ear candling with our beeswax candles:
1. A lit candle is placed in the ear canal – it is inserted into the ear to a depth of about 1 cm.
2. Then you should wait until the candle burns down to the end, or rather to the point that does not burn – this is a safeguard against burns.
How to use and how often to perform the ear candling treatment? Ear candling treatments are performed on both ears (every other day). Seven treatments constitute the basic therapy, which can be extended in case of chronic ailments.
Caution! The treatment should be strictly contraindicated in patients with ear drum perforation, ear cysts or after recent surgery. It should also not be performed on people with a diagnosed allergy to bee products or other materials from which the candles are made. Ear candling is not recommended during pregnancy.
Attention! Ear candling treatments should be performed after medical consultation by qualified personnel. They are mainly offered by natural medicine clinics, although candles can be purchased yourself, and then such a procedure can be carried out at home; however, we do not recommend it if you do not have appropriate experience- for the sake of health and safety. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), using lit candles in close proximity to the face is dangerous and carries a "high risk of causing potentially serious skin/hair burns and middle ear damage", even if used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
